IATF 16949 2016The Prestige story
PRESTIGE FOUNDING
Founded by the Rink Family, Prestige began in a four car stone garage
It all started here. Robert A and Robert J Rink rented this small 4 car stone garage during a time of civil unrest in Detroit in 1967 and started Prestige Stamping. The city was burning and controlled by the National Guard but washer production continued.
1967MOVE TO WARREN
Pursuing growth, Prestige moved to Warren, Michigan
It did not take long to outgrow the stone garage in Detroit. With strong orders from sems screw manufacturers, the company picked up and moved to a 3,500 sq ft building on 10 Mile Rd in the city of Warren, MI. in 1968.
1968CONTINUED GROWTH
Prestige continues to expand, adding automakers as customers
With orders now coming in strong from existing screw customers, Prestige moved into being a direct supplier for the Detroit 3 automakers. More room was needed for this expansion so the company packed up and moved to its current location on Groesbeck Hwy in Warren, MI. Prestige leased the 12,000 sq ft shown here and purchased the adjacent property.
1970WINTER STORM
Prestige delivers through wintry conditions
A strong winter storm knocked down the East wall of the manufacturing facility in February of 1971. While working conditions were quite cold, orders could not be late so the staff continued to work until the structure was boarded up and re-blocked.
1971HIGH SPEED PRESS
A new 90 ton press increases Prestige’s capabilities
The delivery of our first new 90 ton high speed Henry and Wright press really increased Prestige Stamping’s capabilities. This enabled Prestige to take on the two biggest automotive jobs which had annual volumes of 376 Million and 170 Million pieces! From left to right pictured are Doug Schroeder, Rich Barron and Robert J Rink.
1972WAREHOUSE EXPANSION
Growth drives continued expansion for Prestige
After expanding the current leased building it was apparent that more expansion was needed. Pictured are Robert A and Robert J Rink at a ground breaking ceremony for a new warehouse. This was built on the purchased adjacent property to the manufacturing plant.
1976FAMILY PLANNING
Prestige Stamping continues to be built by the Rink family
Prestige being a close family company, working together on important projects included the entire team. Pictured here is the family team planning for more improvements in equipment and building expansion plans. Pictured from left to right are Robert J, James, Jeff, Robert A and Chris Rink.
1979THE NEW PRESTIGE
Construction begins on new Prestige Stamping Headquarters
With continued growth, expansion plans continued to be fulfilled. This picture is construction of an all new manufacturing plant with a distinctive office space. Many efficiencies were built into the design to reduce energy costs and efficient flow of material and manufacturing.
19784MOVING IN
Operations move to the new Prestige manufacturing facility
With construction finally done, Prestige moved all of its equipment, raw material and finished goods into the new building between the Holidays. First manufacturing and shipments commenced January 2nd, 1985.
1985FORD Q1 AWARD
Prestige stands out among fastener manufacturers for quailty
Prestige was one of the first Ford fastener suppliers to receive Ford Motor Company’s “Q1” award. Utilizing statistical process controls and electronic MRP systems propelled our quality ratings to the best in the industry. The company continues to stand out in quality and service operating and certified to the latest quality standards such as ISO 9000 and IATF 16949.
1987ADDITIONAL EXPANSION
Prestige continues to expand beyond its existing facility
Prestige fills the original purchased property with as much building expansion as it can. The leased building was purchased and it became our production heat treat facility. The additional construction added more manufacturing space to both ends of the building increasing the manufacturing space to 102,000 sq ft.
